Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released notification for the Engineering Services  (Preliminary /Stage I) Examination to fill the approximately 247 vacancy.

Vacancy: 247

Post: Recruitment will be made to the service / Posts under the following categories 

  1. Civil Engineering
  2. Mechanical Engineering 
  3. Electrical Engineering 
  4. Electronics & Telecommunication

Qualification For Engineering Service Examination: 

  • Degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.

OR 

  • Passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers.

OR

  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such conditions as may be recognised by the Government. 

OR

  • Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers. 

OR

  • Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.

OR

  • Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959



Fees: Rs 200 (Excepting Female/SC/ST/PwBD who are exempted from payment of fee)

Age: 21-30 Years (Relaxation as per Government rule) 

Selection Process for Engineering Service will be conducted in three phase 

  1. Preliminary Exam (500 marks,  Objective Type Paper)
  2. Main Exam (600 marks, Conventional Type Paper)
  3. Interview (200 Marks, Personality Tests)

  • Geologist Group A - 100
  • Geophysicist Group A - 50
  • Chemist Group A - 20

Category-II: (Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation.)

  • Scientist B Hydrogeology Group A - 20
  • Scientist B Chemical Group A - 1
  • Scientist B Geophysics Group A - 1 

Qualification for UPSC Combined GEO-Scientist Examination 2022:

GEOLOGIST GROUP A

Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo- Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geo-sciences or Geochemistry. 

GEOPHYSICIST GROUP A

M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics). 

CHEMIST GROUP A

M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry 

SCIENTIST B HYDROGEOLOGY GROUP A 

Master’s degree in Geology or applied Geology or Marine Geology or Hydrogeology from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.
