Rahul Gandhi Target BJP for misusing social media platform

Rahul Gandhi tweeted

BJP & RSS control Facebook & WhatsApp in India. They spread fake news and hatred through it and use it to influence the electorate. Finally, the American media has come out with the truth about Facebook.

BJP Response:

Ravi Shankar Prasad: Losers who cannot influence people even in their own party keep cribbing that the entire world is controlled by BJP & RSS.  You were caught red-handed in alliance with Cambridge Analytica & Facebook to weaponise data before the elections & now have the gall to question us?

Social media has played a big role in the election campaign not only in India but elsewhere as well. There is no doubt, as more and more people are coming online, their thinking & voting patterns can be influence through social media. Many political party in different democratic country accusing social media company like facebook, twitter & others to show transparency during election and not to favor one party view over others.

India has over 460 million internet user, facebook has more than 241 million active user in India and WhatsApp has 400 million active users in India. These numbers shows that social media platform has the capability to influence voters and their voting pattern.

Social platform can be used by political party to build & drive their narrative and if you combine social media platform with online media, print media and TV news channel than its a deadly combination or you can say deadly cocktail.

It's not about BJP & Congress, whoever in the government, they always use all method to suppress the voice which threaten them or vocal against their policies and decision.

What is the solution?

The solution is very simple, but difficult to implement. Election commission make sure clean political funding for all political parties. According to the ADR report 43% of newly elected MPs have criminal records against them and ADR report 2018-19 said Indian seven national parties got 67% fund from unknown sources which cannot be traced.

When Political party has unaccounted money in their pocket which can't be traced, they are bound to misuse it, whether it is on social media or in any other way. If their funding is clean and every penny is accounted for then they will think twice, even before using it forget about misusing it.
